Our research portfolio is great right now. We have eight sets of fieldnotes that we have extended, analyzed, and coded. Two great interviews that couldn’t have gone better both interviewees answered the questions not exactly how I thought they would, but the answers they gave were exactly what I needed. We have pictures of our interviewees in their basketball environment as well as other pictures from inside the gym. We are now working on organizing our portfolio and trying to make our research information that we have gathered understandable to outsiders especially to those that don’t have a basketball mindset or have never had a basketball mindset. In the two interviews that we have conducted both participants were able to see how reading was vital to the game and how they do read the many components of the sport. Through our fieldnotes we have seen how every player on the team is reading something on the court even if they don’t realize what they are doing. I find that are research has shown us that the basketball team here at Commerce has made literacy physical in the way that they read one another, they read the ball movement, and other things surrounding them while playing. When we began this project I had no idea that the information would fall into our laps as easily as it has. Now that we have most of our research minus one interview it is time to put it all together in our final project so that other people can see how literacy is physical on the basketball court at TAMU-Commerce and how the men’s basketball team is reading it sometimes without even realizing it.
